<image:title>Nitty Gritty - Check in, check out</image:title>
<image:caption>All huts are self check-in, self check-out. Check-in: -12pm arrival or later at the hut. 10am at the trailhead if you have a freight haul (see below for more info). -No need to announce your arrival to anyone but the crisp, mountain air. - Speaking of hut rules, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SKIS IN THE TRAIL OUTSIDE THE HUT. The amazing groomers of Methow Trails groom at night, in the dark, right up to the front door of your hut. If your skis are left in the trail, they may not be seen and will get crunched. Make sure your skis and any other gear is well off the trail and out of the way of the groomer. Speaking of groomers, leaving a midnight snack or treat is a great way to make our valley night owls very happy. Check-out: -11am check out. -Please remember to wash your dishes! Leaving dirty dishes means your freight haul, or the freight haul for another group of guests, may be significantly delayed in arriving at the trailhead. A fee will be charged if dishes are left unwashed.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nitty Gritty - Ski in, ski out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Rendezvous Trail system is groomed and maintained by Methow Trails, a local non-profit. Plan on purchasing required trail passes online or in-person before heading out to the trailhead. The master groomers keep our trails and hut access ship-shape all winter long! The ski in to the huts varies in difficulty, but for the novice-intermediate skier, expect to spend anywhere from 2 - 4+ hours skiing into your hut. The general terrain is up, up, up on your way in, and a much quicker downhill ski on your way out. Skiing to your hut is part of the experience! In the event of an unexpected injury before your trip, we may be able to provide a ride for 1 rider, if a freight-haul is scheduled. An extra fee will be charged, as adding a rider can cause shifts to the freight schedule. Begin at Cub Creek Trailhead: -Easiest trailhead to access most huts -Approx. 9 miles from downtown Winthrop -Gear haul drop is ONLY at Cub Creek Trailhead at 10am Begin at Gunn Ranch Trailhead: -Approx. 12 miles from Cub Creek Trailhead, 6 miles from Winthrop -Only 1 car per party as parking is extremely limited -Must drop gear at Cub Creek if freight haul is scheduled Fatbiking and Snowshoeing: -Fatbikes allowed from Gunn Ranch to Grizzly Hut. -Snowshoes (no foot traffic) allowed from Cub Creek to Heifer Hut. -Check the maps to be sure you don’t venture onto ski-only trails Dogs: -The Rendezvous Trail system, for the most part, is dog friendly! Wag, wag, wag. -No dogs, however, are allowed at Gardner and Cassal Huts, as the access trails to those huts do not permit dogs. -Your dog must have a ski pass, be on a leash or under voice control. Check out the Rendezvous Trail System map for more info on distances and allowed activities!</image:caption>

If you are running late the day of, text: 509-429-3644. -On your way out, gear must be ready for pick-up at the hut no later than 10:30am. The ski down is quick, sometimes quicker than we can get your gear down, so feel free to stay at the hut until checkout at 11am. -We aim to have your gear at Cub Creek by noon at the latest, though conditions and unforeseen issues can cause delays. Keep this in mind if you are planning a tight timeline to return home. -How much stuff to bring? A typical 4 person group might have 1 cooler, 1 tote of dry goods, extra water, 1 duffle per person. Double that for a group of 8. We can accommodate extra skis and sleds. -No cardboard boxes or paper bags for food, they dissolve in snow. Bags and totes should have a zipper or a lid. Waterproof bags are a bonus! We try hard to keep your gear dry, but ice melts, clouds rain, snow sprays off the back of the snowmobile…be prepared for a little dampness.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nitty Gritty - Day-use</image:title>
<image:caption>Traditionally, the Rendezvous Huts has supported a community of day-users in addition to overnight guests. This fosters a sense of community among skiers—locals and visitors alike. We encourage friendly interactions and welcoming spaces. Ultimately, it is up to the reservation holders to decide if they want to invite day-users into the hut. Covid and an increase in both overnight and day skiers in the Rendezvous can make what might feel to some harmless chit-chat into an overwhelming situation. Please ask permission from the hut guests before entering a hut you have not reserved.</image:caption>

<image:title>Summer Season - Forest Fires</image:title>
<image:caption>Fires are, unfortunately, a way of life in the Methow these days. We monitor any fires nearby and close the huts upon recommendation of the Forest Service. If smoke conditions are unhealthy and persistent, we may contact you about rescheduling your stay. Some intermittent smoke should be expected if you come to the area in the summer, as we frequently have smokey days from fires that may be anywhere between California, Canada or beyond. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE expect that outdoor burning will not be allowed and respect any fire ban that is in place. Check for Okanogan County and Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest burn bans. There will be signs posted at the huts as well.</image:caption>

<image:title>Summer Season - What’s it all about?</image:title>
<image:caption>Our summer season opens at the beginning of May, just in time for peak wildflower season toward the end of that month and into June. We close again in August to beat the heat and/or smoke and allow time for more major renovations. September-October means fall foliage, a no-fuss stay for hunting season, and cooler temps for mountain biking. Summer season activities Hiking, biking, chill-axing at the hut. All huts are located on forest service roads. Explore on foot or wheels there are many seldom traveled roads in the area.</image:caption>

<image:title>Summer Season - Everything your hut has to offer.</image:title>
<image:caption>All huts have 5 double beds and can therefore sleep up to 10 people. Just depends on how close you want to be with your travel companions. All huts are exclusive use and designed to house a cozy crowd. Remember, your cost per person goes down when you share with friends! What is provided at the huts? -7 gallons of water with each stay. (You’ll likely want to bring a little more. There is no potable water in the area). -All wood for wood stoves (please plan on bringing or harvesting wood for outdoor fires, IF they are allowed.) -Range/oven with propane -Solar and propane lighting -Cookware, dishes and silverware -Mattresses for sleeping -Toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, hand sani, soap, sponges and dish bins. -Board games for when you are bored. What should I bring? -Food and drink -Bedding -Headlamps for those late night trips to the outhouse</image:caption>

<image:title>Summer Season - Arrival & Departure</image:title>
<image:caption>Can we drive to the huts? Yes! Unlike in winter, access to the huts is easy with a car. It is an approximately 45 minute drive from Winthrop, depending on the hut. There is no freight-haul service in the summer, so plan to deliver your own gear to the hut. The roads in the area are maintained by the forest service and can be rough. A higher clearance vehicle like a Subaru is recommended. Directions - Important, read this!! You will receive detailed directions with your reservation. 1) Print them out. There is limited/no cell service on your way to the hut. 2) Set your odometer to zero. Our directions are based off of turn by turn mileage readings. It is easy to find the huts if you read EVERYTHING and follow mileage closely. If something doesn’t seem quite right, back up and start at the last direction. It’s easy to get lost on the maze of roads. Check in at 1pm or after Huts are self check-in, no need to contact us when you arrive. If you arrive too early, your hut may not be clean or ready for your use. Please respect the check in time. Check out at 11am or before Huts are self check-out, no need to contact us when you leave. Please leave by 11 at the latest so we have time to prep your hut for the next guest. Are the huts locked? The huts are not locked. Please keep valuables in a safe place, as if you were camping. That being said, we have never had an issue with other people disturbing guests’ items or bothering guests during their stay.</image:caption>

<image:title>Summer Season - Wildlife and Critters</image:title>
<image:caption>What’s the best part of the huts? The views, the woods, nature…and everything that comes with it. We’ve seen bears, coyotes, cougars, bobcats (i.e. the cool stuff!), but also pack rats, mice and bugs. We do our best to live-trap the little creatures and re-home them. We do not use poison as it can transfer to birds of prey and other wildlife. Despite our efforts, these critters live in the woods and, frankly, enjoy the hut life. You may find evidence of your little roommates in the form of poops or skittering in the night. We try our best to keep bugs at a minimum with traps, but keeping doors and screens closed can help.</image:caption>
